Harmonic Medicine, a holistic approach to alternative health
care, draws on science, music, metaphysics, indigenous and
philosophical traditions, and both Eastern and Western medicine.
The roots of this medicine are found throughout time and
across all cultures, where music, sound, and aromatherapy have
played an integral part in healing, ceremony and ritual.
Harmonic Medicine helps us to harmonize and balance the soma,
psyche and soul while reconnecting us with the natural rhythms,
pulses, and cycles of the universe.
Everything in the Universe vibrates and this is the essence
of life.
- In chemistry, Mendelyev devised the Periodic
Table of Elements from musical harmonic ratios in 1869.
- In physics, Max Planck (who coined the word "quanta")
has said his ideas came from music.
- Neils Bohr constructed the constituents and
action of atoms (c. 1913) from the concept of musical harmonics.
- Louis de Broglie..."stumbled across" the
notion of standing and transverse waves in musical tones
being the basis of waves of energy being the same as particles
in mass-thereby confirming E=mc 2 (c. 1905) of Albert Einstein.
- In c. 1926, Erwin Schredinger devised the
mathematical and conceptual formula, which formed the basis
of quantum mechanics, this after hearing a presentation by
de Broglie of his musical theory.
- In 1927, Werner Heisenberg formulated the
fantastic Uncertainty Principle.
- David Bohm (c. 1970) devised his notion of
the unbroken and holistic Cosmos, which he called the "implicate
order" out of which comes the 'explicates;' he says
that music is the perfect example of the explicate order.
- Murray Gell-Mann apparently devised his table
of quarks (i.e., subatomic particles like baryons and mesons)
on the harmonic series of musical tones.
"All
of these gentlemen became Nobel Laureates (except as yet,
Bohm). All were musicians and came from musical families..."
